My Trauma is Bigger Than Yours

Today we’re talking about trauma. The concept of trauma and the discussions around it have definitely become more and more commonplace. As a society, we’re becoming much more comfortable talking about it in general. But, I think there’s still a nuance that we’re missing. When others talk about trauma, we tend to compare our trauma to theirs. We might even think that our trauma wasn’t significant enough because it wasn’t as bad as someone else’s.

We're All On Our Own Timeline | Recovery

Today’s topic is coming to you from a moment of realization I had recently at one of the restaurants we like to go to in the Dominican Republic where we’re currently vacationing. The song, “Time,” by Pink Floyd was being played by a local band and it reminded me of one of the common conversations that I have with so many of the people that I work with.
